The Heartbreaking Scam That Stole a Son’s Support
A young man named Isaac was victimized by the Flight Mover/Kayak.com scam. Isaac tried to book a flight on Southwest Airlines to be with his father for the Fourth of July. He was on the phone with a dishonest agent for Flight Mover, who lied to Isaac, claiming that his Southwest ticket didn’t include luggage, and convinced him to buy an American Airlines ticket. Unfortunately, there is no restriction on Southwest flights that doesn’t allow luggage. Instead of getting on a Southwest flight, Isaac was tricked into getting on an American Airlines flight. And instead of being there the day before the holiday, he was set to arrive on the Fourth of July itself. In other words, he was tricked into paying for a more expensive flight a day later. This was all part of an extortion scheme perpetrated by Flight Mover, a company based out of Wyoming but with a mail-forwarding service in Orlando. They were facilitating illegal business, and Kayak, the website Isaac used, was unaware and failed to properly vet the company.
